Register now for the EQIPD Summer School

We’re excited to announce the third EQIPD Summer School entitled "Improving preclinical data quality and robustness"! Because of the pandemic, the 2021 edition will be held online, hosted by Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
The Summer School will take place on 1, 2, 8 and 9 June 2021, each day from 13.00 to 17.00 CEST. View full draft programme here.

  • Day 1 (1 June): Why are we here? The context and rationale of the need to improve research rigour
  • Day 2 (2 June): How to improve the robustness of animal studies: study design and planning
  • Day 3 (8 June): How to improve the robustness of animal studies: data integrity and analysis
  • Day 4 (9 June): What to do next? Practical implementation of measures to improve research rigour

This Summer School is free of charge. We look forward to seeing you!

New partnership

PREMOS - a new collaboration project involving EQIPD

The European Brain Research Area (EBRA) was launched in November 2018 to co-ordinate brain research strategies across Europe, connect key stakeholders, foster synergies and support global brain initiatives.

In February 2021 the Predictive Model Systems (PREMOS) cluster was added to enhance the translational value of animal models, define the main challenges in using model organisms in basic brain research, develop ideas for new solutions, and identify the resources and stakeholders needed to accomplish these goals.

Within PREMOS, team members from EQIPD will join forces with leading neuroscientists and genetics experts from the INFRAFRONTIER Research Infrastructure as the IMI consortium PRISM2.

Highlights last General Assembly

Unbelievably, EQIPD is already entering in its final project stage! The work package (WP) leaders of all nine EQIPD WPs met virtual again on 17 March to discuss the general project progress, the sustainability of the EQIPD results but also the final steps to be taken for the successful finalisation of EQIPD at the end of September 2021.

One part of the remote meeting was also dedicated to live demonstration of the EQIPD Quality System and the first version of the EQIPD training platform. Further information is available on the EQIPD website and will be posted soon over the EQIPD social media channels.
British Neuroscience Association

CAMARADES wins the BNA’s ‘Credibility Prize’

The British Neuroscience Association has awarded its inaugural Team Credibility Prize to the University of Edinburgh’s Collaborative Approach to Meta-Analysis and Review of Animal Experimental Studies research group (CAMARADES).

Founded in 2004 by Malcolm Macleod and David Howells, CAMARADES uses systematic review and meta-analysis to address translational failures in preclinical stroke, neuropathic pain and Alzheimer’s research, and understand why clinical trials do not confirm the success seen in animal models. Working with Nature Publishing Group and PLOS One, the group has become an active campaigner for the changes in the reporting of preclinical research and editorial policies.

The award, supported, by the Gatsby Foundation, recognises excellent efforts to ensure that neuroscience research is as robust, reliable, replicable, and reproducible as possible. Congratulations to the team!
34th ECNP Congress Hybrid 2021

Submit an abstract by 18 May

Present your research to the world’s best researchers in applied and translational neuroscience, submit an abstract for the 34th ECNP Congress Hybrid, 2-5 October 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal!

Submit abstract

Non-standard abstracts – including clinical cases, literature reviews and research proposals – are also possible.
The deadline for abstract submission for poster presenters is 18 May 2021.

Do not miss this opportunity to be part of Europe’s largest meeting in applied brain research!
